Shivaji University, located in Kolhapur, was established in 1962. The university is accredited with Grade A by the NAAC. The university affiliates 276 colleges that are spread over three districts of Maharashtra, namely, Kolhapur, Sangli, and Satara. Holding the strength of more than three lakh students, the University has 34 postgraduate departments, including 10 major faculties of Arts, Social Science, Commerce, Education, Fine Arts, Law, Medicine, Ayurveda Medicine, and Engineering and technology.
