The National Institute of Fashion Technology, Gandhinagar Campus at Gandhinagar, considered to be perhaps the greenest city in India, was established in 1995 at a temporary campus building allotted by Govt. of Gujarat at Sector 26, Gandhinagar. Later Government of Gujarat allotted a plot of 20,000 sq.mt. land for National Institute of Fashion Technology, Gandhinagar permanent Campus near Infocity which became operational in February 2004. An additional 10,000 sq. mt. land was allotted for the Girls’ Hostel, Director’s Bungalow and Staff Quarters.
National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Gandhinagar is a leading fashion institute that offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in fashion design, management, technology, and communication. To maximize the potential of its students, the institute’s Means-cum-Merit Financial Assistance scheme allows students from humble backgrounds to avail subsidized tuition fee at every Campus. Determined by the parental income, students can fall into three slabs of monetary assistance. Many students in the past have benefited from this scheme. Further, many leading organisations from the apparel sector have come forward to encourage NIFT students in their academic and creative quest. Placement Process at NIFT:
The National Institute of Fashion Technology has a centralized placement process. Companies can employ students from any campus or course of the institute through two routes which are facilitated by the institute:
On Campus Placements:
Companies can register for campus placements, the schedule of which is given for 2023. Up on being given a confirmed time and date, they may come to the campus for the placement procedure.
Eligibility Criteria for Firms for Campus Placements:
The companies visiting the campus shall match the eligibility criteria listed as under for registering to recruit through NIFT Campus Placement:
A company registered under Companies Act of 1956/2013 or a multinational company or global firm having or not having its operations in India conducting business in the fashion or allied sector dealing in the design, manufacturing or distribution.The company may fall under any of the categories mentioned below:
1. First Categorisation -> Product Group
2. Second Categorisation -> Type of Firms
3. Third Categorisation -> Type of skill sets/functions
